Twin Lakes Travel – Nearby Attractions: South Beach

South Beach is just a 45-minute drive from Twin Lakes Travel Park. This vibrant, exciting beachside community truly has something for everyone. South Beach boasts pristine white sand beaches and warm water, as well as architectural gems, shopping, and world-renowned nightlife. This diverse and beautiful city is certainly worth a visit on your RV vacation.

South Beach is a Florida community made up of the narrow strip of land and barrier islands that run parallel to southern Miami. It is accessible by car via the Macarthur and Venetian causeways. Thanks to the location of this neighborhood, the beach is easily accessible and the sandy shores stretch for miles. Many people opt to rent bikes or rollerblades at one of the many stands along the beach and spend the day exploring South Beach’s pristine beaches. South Beach attracts visitors from all over the world, including Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada. Tourists flock to the sandy white beaches by day, and enjoy South Beach’s exciting nightlife when the sun goes down. The nightclubs in Miami are among some of the best in the world, regularly hosting famous DJs and musicians from around the country and world. Naturally, South Beach also offers some of the best restaurants in Florida. Don’t miss Joe’s Stone Crab, one of the most well-known and oldest restaurants in South Beach.

South Beach has plenty to interest the architecture buff in your family. In the 1930s, an architecture revolution changed the face of South Beach, bringing Art Deco, Streamline Moderne, and Nautical Moderne architecture to the neighborhood. In fact, South Beach is said to house the largest collection of Streamline Moderne architecture in the world. Many of these original buildings have been preserved, and a stroll through South Beach will reveal many exciting Art Deco sites. Another interesting aesthetic trait of South Beach is the colorful and unique lifeguard towers that dot the beaches. After Hurricane Andrew hit Florida and destroyed many lifeguard stands, a local architect donated his design services, providing South Beach with this unique aesthetic. In recent years, South Beach has begun offering design tours of the city, some of which include stops at various lifeguard towers.

In addition to beaches and architecture, South Beach offers a number of other attractions to visitors and residents alike. There are a number of parks and museums that you can visit throughout South Beach. Be sure to take a spin down Ocean Drive for a glimpse of the colorful street that have been featured in countless TV shows and movies. If the sun has left you feeling weary, take refuge in one of the glamorous beachfront hotels. A poolside cocktail or smoothie in one of these luxurious locales is sure to revive your spirits. A visit to South Beach is the perfect complement to your family’s RV vacation. After a day (or night!) out and about, return home to the relaxing facilities at the Twin Lakes Travel RV resort. You’ll look through your photos and reminisce about your daytrip to South Beach for years to come.
